Rack and Pinion Types

Racks are a type of gear widely used in industry. They are used to convert circular motion into linear motion. Racks convert the motion of a rotating pinion into single-direction motion thanks to teeth cut into a flat surface. There are two types of gear manufacturing: spur racks and helical racks. Racks can be manufactured using different materials depending on the intended use and operating conditions. Plastic racks can be used for quiet, lubrication-free, and low-load environments.
